Langkawi holiday
We just had a wonderful week in Langkawi, an island off the north west coast of Malaysia. The Andaman Hotel was lovely- set in a rainforest with a beautiful white sandy beach. (Click on the photos for a closer view).
Ours was the first room on the right with Balcony.
Beautiful pool in landscaped gardens.
The route through the forest to our room.
We saw plenty of monkeys on the beach and in the forest. These Macaques are very inquisitive and rather naughty - we had to keep the room door closed as they are partial to the contents of the fruit basket!
Our favourites however, were the Dusky Leaf Monkeys - these have very cute white faces and are much shyer than their Macaque cousins.
A hefty monitor lizard.A Colugo, otherwise known as a Flying Lemur, though they're not actually related to Lemurs and they don't fly, but glide!
A Giant Squirrel nibbling on a piece of fruit.
We hired a car one day and toured the island. This was taken from the highest hill looking out to the nearby islands.
At the end of the day we had drinks and dinner at the Bon Ton Restaurant and Resort.
What a beautiful place this is! The resort is set within an old coconut plantation and features 19th century traditional Malay villas.
And dozens of rescued cats! This one has the most beautiful blue eyes!
Next day we went over to the Spa at the Four Seasons Hotel. This is a very luxurious resort - the setting is stunning and we thoroughly enjoyed drinks on the beach and dinner afterwards! Thanks Lou for your lovely Xmas present!
All in all a super holiday - we thoroughly recommend Langkawi to everyone! You can view more photos of Langkawi on my Flickr photo sharing site. See side bar for link.
