Bird and cats at Hillview

I managed to get my camera out just in time to snap this Kingfisher through the car window this week!  Not a terrific shot,  but good enough to see those beautiful blue feathers and extra long beak!

It's been while since I took photos of  my cats.  So without further ado ....

Tia likes to sit beside me on the printer.   Here she is objecting to my choice of music this afternoon - Phil Collins

 Boooorrrring!

before long though she was fast asleep...

and a little later I asked her if I could use the printer  ........  I didn't ask again!  I know when to leave well alone!

Bob, on the other hand, shares his possessions!  He enjoys a game of football with us.  This is his  favourite frog (it's a dog toy, but don't tell him!).

One-eyed Bob is very relaxed and enjoys Phil Collins ..

and chillin on the kitchen floor right beside my feet!

Have a lovely relaxing weekend!

For Illustration Friday - 'Shades'.  Some pebbles in shades of my often used water colours,
Paynes Grey and Ultramarine.  Lifted from my sketchbook and combined with a little digital colour swatch  today.

Visitors

I've had a couple of visitors this week.  We often have monkeys popping into the garden.  On Saturday afternoon this Macaque was peering in the window and I managed to get some very close shots of him.  I'm  glad the window was between us, as though not obvious here, he has pretty big teeth!

After a while he tired of staring at us and settled down under the eaves to shelter from the heavy rain.

I found this little fellow in the kitchen today and hurried to get my camera before it flew off.  As it turned out the poor thing wasn't alive so I could take my time!  Aren't the patterns and colours on his back gorgeous?

This week's Illustration Friday word is 'yield'.  Did you know that a poppy head can yield up to 30,000 seeds?  (No, me neither!)  This illustration is watercolour, gesso and pen ink.

Illustration Friday - Capable

'Capable' ©Caroline Soer

'Capable' for Illustration Friday.  Now you see me, now you don't ! Chameleons are capable of blending in with the scenery!  Very quickly done this afternoon with Inktense pencils and a touch of gouache. Oh dear - I've just noticed that he looks like he's been impaled, poor little chap!
