This week's Illustration Friday word is 'yield'. Did you know that a poppy head can yield up to 30,000 seeds? (No, me neither!) This illustration is watercolour, gesso and pen ink.
These are very eye-catching. I had no idea there were so many seed either. Apparently it is illegal to grown opium poppies in France. I find once they find their way into a garden, they are hard to remove so I hope we don't legislate against them here.
Poppies are my absolute favorite! Prolific in abused soil, growing without much attention is any- just the breeze and sunshine! I also like opium...so glad it is illegal and impossible to obtain these days...I would have succumbed to the power of the poppy!
it is very nice Caroline! I like the mixture of colours and fine line!
ReplyDeleteLove your poppy pods....30,000 seeds....wow!
