Click to enlarge This week's Illustration Friday theme is pattern. No time this week to create something new as my brother and wife are visiting, but I thought this watercolour painting I made some years ago of daffodils in a beautiful little patterned pot would fit the bill. I bought this piece of Kutahya pottery over 30 years ago and it remains one of my favourites - I love the colours and patterns.
Lovely. What a superb rendering. The balance between the flowers (both color and arrangement) and the pottery creates amazing impact.
ReplyDeleteMmm I agree, beautiful patterns on this pottery and you've painted it beautifully. The flowers are so delicate and a good contrast to the vase.
ReplyDeleteLovely! Patterns on pottery are always great
ReplyDeleteI would covet that piece of pottery as well! You've captured the delicate translucence of the daffodils perfectly ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is equisite :) Have a lovely time with your brother.
ReplyDeleteThis painting is terrific. More than that. Majorly terrific.
ReplyDeleteYes, the pattern on the vase is lovely too, and so well done by you. Wow.
Oh goodness, that is just superb! You've captured the light hitting the daffodils so perfectly, and the shadows are to die-for! Fantastic watercolor!
ReplyDeleteHave a great time with your brother and SIL!

I am getting a lot inspirations from you.
A a great time serving your dearest brother and his wife around.
See you again:)
Wow, that is a wonderful painting Caroline. Fancy having that tucked away. I would definitely have it on display. I love the shadowing at the bottom and the way you have done the stems.
ReplyDeleteoh my! this is spectacular. I love botanical art and its realism, and I am amazed by your gorgeous daffodils! stunning...
ReplyDeleteQuite simply - it's utterly beautiful, Caroline. The pattern on the vase, the delicate beauty of the daffodils - you've captured it all. You are truly a magician with your brushs. Gosh, you never cease to make my jaw drop in awe every time I come here! Wonderful, wonderful.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm off to play catch-up with those posts of yours I missed during my enforced absence from the Blogworld while on house-hunting safari. I know I'm in for a treat! xx
I would have it framed, it's so lovely. Great contrast between the yellow daffodils and the blue china.
ReplyDeleteThank you to everyone who has left me such lovely comments on this painting! I wasn't sure whether to show it as the scan doesn't really do it justice - a lot of the detail and colour seems to have been lost :( - anyway, I'm glad I did!! It is framed and hanging in a bedroom, by the way!
ReplyDeleteCaroline I wish that you would show us more and more of your work because it is really beautiful. You are so talented.
ReplyDeleteLove Renee xoxo
Sweet Caroline...! The music just popped up when I saw your painting! This is excellent, from the colors to the lights and shadows. What could I ask for? I love the vase's patten.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice time with your brother and his wife!:)
Incredible. The detail is so superb, at first I thought I was looking at a photo.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely luscious in every way...You work magic with your brush! :)
