Laurie has chosen this week's word -
begin.
I did begin another post for this word about the walk I do to begin my day, but changed my mind and decided instead upon this little cockerel just about to begin his early morning crowing.
When I begin a new painting I usually make quick colour studies on any old scrap piece of paper I have to hand!

ReplyDeleteThe word begin originates from old and middle English words beginnan, beginnon meaning "to open". If you look at the word begin and just stare at it for a long time, wonderful thoughts start to stir in your head. try it...
ReplyDeleteCaroline, I envy your watercoloring skills. I wish I can do it and I may try but I have all this oil painting supplies and I need to use them up before I am no longer able to hold a brush.
Have a wonderful, glorious Friday, dear Caroline.
Wonderful rooster Caroline, what beautiful colors you used!
ReplyDeleteI really like chicken paintings, even though I've never done one before. I should remedy that, I suppose. :-)
Caroline! Beautiful! Roosters are so expressive and fiesty- you have captured his personality and hautiness perfectly! Lovely piece! Cock-a Doodle- doo!
ReplyDeleteA lovely illustration - is it watercolour? Gosh, I wish I knew how to paint properly. I use poster paints with a sponge just for the backgrounds of pages, but I would love to learn how to apply and mix paints properly. Well, nothing is stopping me I suppose. I liked your idea of the cock crowing to announce the beginning of each day; was also thinking of the old chicken-and-egg conundrum. Which was first - how did it begin?!
ReplyDeletevery nice illustration. must be a bit loud to wake up to that guy!
ReplyDeleteOh, such a handsome guy! You've given him such character.
ReplyDeleteI love this painting. Fantastic Caroline.
