This 'n that

I've had a bit of artist's block recently and haven't been in my studio much. Today I spent some time sorting through zillions of photos I've taken of the area surrounding our house !

The rain forest on my doorstep.

Our house in the distance

This little chap is what we call a Scrat - a cross between a squirrel and a rat! Love that bottlebrush tail!

So much to see growing locally !

Bananas

?? Looks like an enormous apple!

Starfruit

Mango

Looks like a kind of fig!

  1. We all go through these "spells". Where you are living is like a tropical paradise. I would imagine that you are inspired by all the color and form in the many places you have lived. Be well.Be happy.

  2. Spectacular photographs. I note that you are reminiscing about bluebell woods when you are surrounded by such lushness!

  3. The Scrat is making me smile. I'm wondering, when he loses his balance, whether his tail whirrs around like a propeller. Hope you are back in your studio soon. Sometimes it's good to take a break.

  6. Oh what abundance!!! What beauty!
But even then you have just like all of us a creative dip. So I guess a tropical environment isn't a guarantee to be productive either.
Well these things always pass and I know you will be back and blow us away with your amazing art. So just enjoy doing other things Caroline!

    Have a nice day
    groetjes!

  12. Love everything this week Caroline. You live in a beautiful, lush place with amazing fruits and flowers. My favourites are the papayas and figs and that wonderful tail on the squirrely animal. It really is just like a bottlebrush. I saw a photo once of an English grey squirrel with the sun shining through its tail and it was just like a rat's tail without the huge amount of fur. Have a great weekend.

  13. Creative block or not, I love seeing these photos of your area. So lush and green and so many beautiful colors! Sit quietly and let your muse rest. She just needed some time off. Thanks for the tour.

  14. Good heavens, you live in Paradise! I would find it very difficult to stay inside a studio with beauty like that right outside my door. VERY cool photo of the palm fronds!

  15. Poor me! Until now I couldn't figure out which part or KL you're living in! Luxury scenes!

  16. For me - its the weather here. Cold and snowy has made for a muse that has taken off for warmer climes - leaving me on the sofa snoring. One would think I could spend hours on the computer, blogging and commenting but no...
LOVE your photos and as the wind whistles around the house and the freezing air creeps in - it's nice to think of tropical weather and flowers and fruits.

  17. caroline, i'm happy for myself to say i am writing again and the muse is cooperating. but i understand when patience is needed for her to return. sometimes i force myself to write anyway, but it's never as rewarding until she's back with me.

these fruits are incredible to me. the colors and shapes are muses all by themselves. and the patterns you see in the commonplace: caroline, you have a gift. more than one, even.

ps thanks for the guidance. sigh.... ♥

  18. Wow - it's so beautiful where you live and so different from my home. Do squirrels and rats really get together like that? I thought it impossible, but what do I know?! I love the digitally enhanced photo of palm fronds, it's beautiful! So why do you live in Malaysia? Is it your childhood home? I don't believe I've ever heard what brought you there.
