Visitors

I've had a couple of visitors this week.  We often have monkeys popping into the garden.  On Saturday afternoon this Macaque was peering in the window and I managed to get some very close shots of him.  I'm  glad the window was between us, as though not obvious here, he has pretty big teeth!

After a while he tired of staring at us and settled down under the eaves to shelter from the heavy rain.

I found this little fellow in the kitchen today and hurried to get my camera before it flew off.  As it turned out the poor thing wasn't alive so I could take my time!  Aren't the patterns and colours on his back gorgeous?

  1. Cute fellow. When I saw the second photo, I thought you were visited by the Lorax. :)

  2. omg...I´ll say that was close!!! He is beautiful!! but scary in a way as I do not live anywhere near free roaming monkeys,,,except when I go shopping into the crowded city,,,there are MANY:) but they are nowhere as gorgeous as this guy!!! sooo it just seems so strange to see him just sitting there on your ROOF!! My cat would go bananananaaaaas if he saw something like that. What do your cats do? Are they afraid or I assume that monkey could hurt a cat couldn´t he? What a bug too....you need to paint him.....

    1. Hi Cynnie - my cats are nervous about them when they come close so usually make a quick exit. The monkeys tend to ignore them fortunately as, yes, they could do some damage with those teeth!

  3. What a handsome monkey guy! Such a little wild person! I am sure they are wild and may bite but the urge to make a friend of him would be overwhelming.
That BUG! WOW! I would wear it, since it was dead already...in my hair...it would be the best looking thing about me!
    Just WOW!

  4. I love animals but admit I'd be scared if I came face to face with him. See what you mean about the teeth. Would they actually attack you Caroline or be scared off? My dog Bill would go mad if he saw one but think he would come away the loser!

    1. Hi Nicky, this monkey got a bit annoyed with me knocking on the window and came right up close in a very aggressive manner. I certainly wouldn't want to test his resolve - in fact, the day one was in my studio Tia and I beat a very hasty retreat! Our neighbours' dog gets very agitated when they are in the garden - she's a good guard dog and alerts us to their presence. The monkeys sometimes throw poo at her!

  6. I was just admiring his teeth and having a bit of a giggle. They can be amusing without even trying.

  7. One of the many intersting things about moving to countries other than where you are from is that you get to see such diverse wildlife. Beautiful creatures all.

  8. You have the most amazing visitors! The monkeys look like little old men and the bug is beautiful! I'm assuming the monkeys aren't always friendly.
