Illustration Friday

 ©Caroline Soer 2012

This week's Illustration Friday word is 'yield'.  Did you know that a poppy head can yield up to 30,000 seeds?  (No, me neither!)  This illustration is watercolour, gesso and pen ink.

  3. These are very eye-catching. I had no idea there were so many seed either. Apparently it is illegal to grown opium poppies in France. I find once they find their way into a garden, they are hard to remove so I hope we don't legislate against them here.

  4. No, I did not know that. What I do know is that you have taken a common often used subject and turned it into a beautiful unique painting!

  9. Poppies are my absolute favorite! Prolific in abused soil, growing without much attention is any- just the breeze and sunshine! I also like opium...so glad it is illegal and impossible to obtain these days...I would have succumbed to the power of the poppy!
