Illustration Friday - Giant

Dahlia - watercolour ©Caroline Soer

Here is my 'giant' Dahlia for Illustration Friday. I made this watercolour sketch some years ago during a weekend workshop devoted to painting large scale. This is A3 sized - a big departure from my usual format!

  6. Your flower watercolour is stunning Caroline. You are so good at nature watercolours. I don't think I could do anything this big at all.

Also love the blues mosaic. Marine themes are always attractive. I think I could spend all day and everyday making mosaics from Flickr photos. Carolyn has posted some wonderful mosaics on her blog.

  18. COOL! painting/drawing large scale always throws me off - i'm so used to working in tiny spaces! it looks like you're comfortable working in any size format!

  19. Holy moly, this is exceedingly beautiful! You are such an amazing artist, Caroline. You and your brushes work magic.

I tried to grow dahlias once. The big saucer kind. They were tall and healthy, and just as the blooms were about to open, they got munched by a deer. Grrrrrr.

Thanks for your comment. Hope you have a wonderful summer!
