Another page for a travelling art book

Here's a page for Lisa's book - the last in her travelling book before it flies back to her! Knowing that Lisa is a nature lover I decided on a wild flower/plants theme and made this page with a lino cut printed onto some lovely delicate, lacy/spiderweb-like paper which I applied to coloured Japanese papers. I have to say I struggled a bit with the cutting of this design - lots of curves and zigzags here - and slipped with the tool to decapitate a poor little snail in the process :( Hence the addition of an origami butterfly to fill the gap left by my carelessness! Hope you like the print Lisa!

Hanging out to dry

In keeping with my butterfly theme this week I thought I'd share this with you! This gorgeous little, well, not so little guy landed on a window yesterday after a terrific downpour and hung out here to dry all day. Now, these are B I G TALL windows and this is one B I G butterfly (or moth?) with a wing span going on for a good 5 or 6 inches!! Unfortunately, the top of the window is so high up that getting a good photo is nigh on impossible without a really supadoopa lens - well, not so impossible that you can't see how dirty the window is, but then look, it's just completely out of reach, OK?!

What is it? Some sort of Swallowtail perhaps - does anyone know ?

Leaf or Butterfly?

Isn't this amazing? Here's a butterfly masquerading as a leaf! When it opens its wings it reveals its amazing colours. Sorry about the poor quality of the pics, but the butterfly was so high up that I had to stand on tip-toe, hold the camera over my head and just shoot at what I hoped would be the right moment it would open its wings! I folded this little butterfly from beautiful Japanese Chiyogami paper.




And made this card yesterday for my daughter who's just had an operation. Get well soon, Julie!
