What a cheek!

This morning I was disturbed in my studio.

This monkey came in via the window and sat on Mum's desk!!!!! (You may recognise the photo from the day he came into the kitchen and stole frozen rice - story here). Mum was upstairs but came running and shouted like some crazy woman at him, but he got very cross and threatened her, lunging forward and baring huge yellow teeth and we were scared, so backed off quickly and slammed the door shut. MOL!!!

Mum was worried that he would create havoc in there so ran to fetch her camera to chase him away ( Monkeys don't like cameras!). Fortunately, that just gave him time to get back through the open window without losing face and when we carefully peeked around the door again he was making his exit and was off like a shot when he saw Mum with the camera.

It wouldn't have been a problem of course, one left hook from me and he'd have beaten a hasty retreat I'm sure!

Fortunately, no real damage done! He obviously didn't think much of Mum's sketchbooks - personally, I think he came in to play with the bubblewrap!

Greetings!

Hello - I've taken it upon myself to write this post as Mum is racing around like a headless chicken - has been for the last week really !

So, she's neglected her blog and I thought I should tell you that she's leaving me here in charge of the studio as she's heading for Dubai for something called 'THE WEDDING'. Whatever that is has meant the printer has been working overtime producing menus and place cards this week and she's had no time for sitting with me in the studio. The cases are packed with the posh frock and fancy shoes and she'll be back to tell you all about it in a couple of weeks! Purrs, Tia.

Return of the wanderer

Tia decided to pack her bags and leave home for a 'holiday' two weeks ago. She's had us all really worried - especially since Charlie Cat did a runner never to return. So, we've had the whole neighbourhood on Tia alert ! We posted notices on lampposts and delivered over 150 flyers to mailboxes! There followed sightings of 'Tia' all over the place, and we now know there are several similar black and white cats in the area! She had been seen near the field, along this road and down that lane, then two guys from the school showed up clutching a tiny frightened kitten on their motorbike and staff at the nearby restaurant were convinced they had her too - in fact, they had two cats for us to choose from! Then finally, on Wednesday, a neighbour thought she saw her near the jungle several minutes walk from here and we were all on the case - monkeys included!

We called and called morning and late afternoon in the pouring rain - to no avail,

but then.... after dinner that evening, during a heavy downpour, a bedraggled Tia finally made it home! Soaked to the skin and looking very thin, there she really was at the door! Dried off and with a full tummy she settled down to a long, long sleep!

Poor mite - she slept for nearly two days!

I'm happy to say that she is settling back in well to her role as studio cat again, thoroughly enjoying being pampered and making the most of her home comforts after her big adventure!
All's well that ends well!

Anniversary Giveaway!

Ahem, Tia here - I've an announcement to make! My Mum has been blogging for one whole year today!

She's made me put on a party hat again - you can see how pleased I am!

Anyway, I'm glad she's been blogging as it means that I have ample opportunity to control the desk and keyboard and generally be obstructive, as a cat does (after all, there's just so much open portfolio sitting and modeling for her illustrations one can do) . Well, enough of that - She Who Blogs tells me that she'd like to thank each and every one of you lovely people for taking the time to visit her blog and leave us such encouraging comments! I've enjoyed meeting so many different people - all with so much talent - your blogs are so entertaining and inspirational - that includes you doggies out there (you know who you are Cloud)!

So ... drumroll .. to celebrate our anniversary she's made a cherry cheese cake (yum, my favourite) which she's taking over to Blogland Lane later today. In the meantime, I've taken care of that pesky mouse AND she's decided to have her first giveaway.. see below.

A print (sized 21 cm x 14.75 cm [more or less], printed on archival art paper on my (I like to keep it warm) Epson R1900 printer) of her 'Cherries' watercolour. So, anyone who'd like a chance to win this has just to leave me (or her, if you really must) a comment (deadline next Friday 4th September) and I'll pop your name into the draw when I get down from the tree. Thank you, Tia (and her) xx

P.S. She asked what I'd like to contribute, but having already consumed the rodent (quite delicious, by the way!) I could probably manage to dig up half a juicy gekko from yesterday evening's pillaging, or maybe a fat cockroach if you prefer more crunch .. let me know?
