Visitors

I've had a couple of visitors this week.  We often have monkeys popping into the garden.  On Saturday afternoon this Macaque was peering in the window and I managed to get some very close shots of him.  I'm  glad the window was between us, as though not obvious here, he has pretty big teeth!

After a while he tired of staring at us and settled down under the eaves to shelter from the heavy rain.

I found this little fellow in the kitchen today and hurried to get my camera before it flew off.  As it turned out the poor thing wasn't alive so I could take my time!  Aren't the patterns and colours on his back gorgeous?

Naughty Monkeys

Oh my! Look what greeted us when we got home from a shopping trip yesterday (click for a closer view)! A Frangipane tree destroyed and a mother with baby consuming the spoils on our bedroom balcony. I only managed to get one pic of them before she spotted me and bounded off into the safety of the neighbours' garden. Very sad about the tree - out of 5 or 6 in the garden only a couple haven't been completely stripped of their leaves.

Moving In - Part 1

My, how time flies when you're having 'fun' moving! Hardly seems possible that it is now over a month ago since I last wrote. We started the move on 7th October - the removal company took 2 days to move us in and unpack the boxes - it's taken me an exhausting 3 weeks plus to sort it all out!

I know it's been said before but I really am getting to the stage where I've had enough of this lark! After this move we'll definitely have to downsize radically to make the next one simpler! Take at look at all these boxes!! Something near 300 of them!

I've arranged the pictures below in a gallery - these are exterior views, the interior shots will follow. Just click on the thumbnails for a larger image.

Central Market, China Town & Bukit Bintang, KL

Last weekend we headed over to Pasar Seni to Central Market. I predict that this will be a great favourite with anyone who has enjoyed Stanley Market in Hong Kong! It's a huge indoor (airconditioned) market full of colour and (a fair sprinkling of tourist tat too)! Here's a sample of what's on offer.

Love these kites!

Papiermache eggs.

Wooden masks.

Buddhas come in all shapes and sizes.

Beautiful Sarongs.

Batik pictures.

And if shopping isn't your thing you can always enjoy a fish spa!

Or a cup of excruciatingly sour hot lemon tea! They certainly don't skimp on the lemon slices here!

Next stop was China Town where we discovered that once you've seen one, you've probably seen 'em all!! Petaling Street is home to vendors hassling you to buy Tshirts, bags, watches, DVDs etc just like in Hong Kong! It's worth a visit but not somewhere I need to be too often, I think. Venturing down the side streets we found shops selling ceramics, incense, herbal medicines, noodles, tea and some beads and ribbons but unfortunately, nothing to quite match Sham Shui Po, the crafters' paradise in Hong Kong!

Making our way back I spotted this temple and outside, some Indian flower sellers

In the distance, the beautiful architecture of the railway station.

And lots of colourful spikey fruits.

And smelly, spikey fruits!

Back in Bukit Bintang - outdoor eateries..

And cats riding motorcyles!

Too cute!!
