There were lots of possibilities for this week's word 'bottled'. I thought about doing something along the lines of Alice in Wonderland with her 'Drink Me' potion and that then led me to this little watercolour of Mama mouse dosing up her unfortunate son! You've got to feel sorry for the poor wee lad- Castor Oil - eeuch! To check out his expression, click the illustration, then click again to enlarge fully.

Illustration Friday - Subtract

He loves me, he loves me not.

This is a page from my sketchbook with my ideas for this week's theme 'Subtract'. I had wanted to choose just one and work it up in watercolour but couldn't make up my mind which one to go with and being a bit late in posting this week, decided to just outline the drawings in ink and 'quickly' add colour with pencils. I should have known better - it probably took four times as long as one little watercolour would have!! Click to enlarge the image.

IF - Celebrate

So, just what do little mice in Holland do to celebrate? They put on their clogs and dance, of course! (Click to view larger).

As I was painting the mice for Illustration Friday I remembered that years ago, when I was living in Holland, I had painted these little Dutch characters in traditional costume on wooden eggs!

Illustration Friday

I've decided to participate in Illustration Friday - a weekly illustration challenge. A topic is posted every Friday on the website and then participants have all week to come up with their own interpretation. Topics are picked each week from a list of suggestions that have been emailed by participants.


This week's topic is 'RESOLVE'





Undoubtedly Max's resolve had deserted him, as only days after having vowed not to indulge in sweet treats in 2009 he's been spotted feasting on Cherry Cheescake.
